I didn’t really know what I was in for, something fun for sure, when I was invited by the lovely Gwen Bell to a Nintendo Party in Denver. I underestimated how much I would enjoy it. A crew of women arrived from Boulder, joining others from Denver, Houston, and elsewhere. We were greeted warmly by four cheery brand representatives. We were given charm bracelets and champagne. It was the first event in Colorado I think I’ve been to that didn’t serve beer. It was also the first tech event (outside of BWET) with no men. It was welcome. There were four stations, each with a different game and a helpful Nintendo representative to assist.
We started with Brain Age 2. It was very nerdy. I liked it right away. It’s all about games to improve your mind including memory and cognition. After a half hour or so, I collected my charm and moved swiftly to Guitar Hero. Yes, they make Guitar Hero for a DS, and yes, it’s pretty cool. It’s like an attachment, and it comes with a pick. It’s also better with headphone. I had a lot of fun playing Jessie’s Girl. Here’s Gwen rockin’ out:
Next I played Mario Kart. I used to play Mario Kart in college. We linked our DSs together to play (which you can do with up to 8 people). I chose the monkey. I lost all three rounds, but it was fun. Finally, I checked out the last game, Crossword, which was also quite good. All in all, it was a great time. Really fun women. Great games. Oh yeah, and I took a new DS home. It’s awesome. I have Brain Age for starters, but I’d like to get a few of the old classic games. Thanks Nintendo. I love my DS, and so do these women:
